About this Competition
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Gold Medal winners receive national recognition, publication opportunities, and scholarships worth up to $10,000. Alumni include Stephen King, Truman Capote, Andy Warhol, and Joyce Carol Oates. Categories include poetry, short story, novel writing, personal essay, and more.
How to Enter
Register at artandwriting.org as a student (grades 7–12). Choose a category. Submit your work and pay the entry fee (fee waivers available). Regional judging happens first; regional winners advance nationally.
